The Commission for South Gate Youth seeks to empower youth by promoting and supporting high quality programs and projects that address the needs of young people.

By resolution, on July 24, 1989, the City Council of the City of South Gate recognized that the well-being of its community depends, in a significant part, on the mental and physical well-being of the youth of the community, established the Commission For South Gate Youth. The Commission was thereby created within the city government for the City of South Gate.

The purpose of the Commission for South Gate Youth is to connect the families, schools and the community through youth programs and projects that will develop positive attitudes, foster self-esteem, promote the pursuit of excellence, and establish lifelong habits of civic participation.

The Commission for South Gate Youth meets the first Tuesday of each month. *Please note that the Commission will go dark for the month of April. The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. in the Civic Center, located at 8680 California Ave., South Gate 90280.
